What is the S2 PEAK Program?
This is a sports specific functional training program designed specifically to optimize individual performance with the primary goal of preventing lower extremity injuries, particularly knee injuries. The focus is to create power and balance through technique training and dynamic activities that implement plyometrics, core stability, agility and strength training exercises. This program is customized and safe for athletes of all ages from pre-high school to the professional leagues. This program includes a comprehensive evaluation of each athlete, including lower extremity biomechanics, athletic performance testing (pre- and post-training) using the Just Jump System®, strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance and muscle recruitment.
Components of the Program?
The S2 PEAK Program is a customized program for individuals, groups or teams with different levels of evaluation and training tailored to athlete.
Pro Training Program
The “Pro Training” program includes:
- Full body evaluation of strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance and muscle recruitment
- Lower extremity biomechanical screen
- Athletic testing performance (pre- and post-training) using the Just Jump System® to evaluate foot quickness, explosive leg power rating, vertical height, hang time, ground contact, contact time and fatigue factor rating
- Eight-week plyometric jump training program
- Functional sport specific core stability, strength and agility training
- Videotaped running gait or jump analysis using 2-D state-of-the-art computerized software with recommendations on movement patterns, form and technique corrective drills
- Long term transitional home program implementing plyometric jump training, sport specific core stability, strength, flexibility and agility training
- Cost: $325 (Evaluation, plus 4 jump training sessions, 1 sport specific follow-up session & post-assessment)
Advanced Training Program
The “Advanced Training” program includes:
- Full body evaluation of strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance and muscle recruitment
- Lower extremity biomechanical screen
- Athletic testing performance (pre- and post-training) using the Just Jump System® to evaluate foot quickness, explosive leg power rating, vertical height, hang time, ground contact, contact time and fatigue factor rating
- Eight-week plyometric jump training program
- Functional sport specific core stability, strength and agility training
- Long term transitional home program implementing plyometric jump training, sport specific core stability, strength, flexibility and agility training
- Cost: $225 (Evaluation, plus 4 jump training sessions, 1 sport specific follow-up session & post-assessment)
Basic Training Program
The “Basic Training” program includes:
- Full body evaluation of strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance and muscle recruitment
- Lower extremity biomechanical screen
- Eight-week plyometric jump training program -or- Functional sport specific core stability, strength, and agility training
- Long term transitional home program implementing plyometric jump training, sport specific core stability, strength, flexibility and agility training
- Cost: $115 (Evaluation, plus 4 jump training sessions -or- sport specific program with follow-up session)
Return to Sport Functional Test
This is an evaluation for those athletes that are returning from a lower extremity injury, fracture or surgery and are interested in knowing if they are ready to return to the field, ice or court for unrestricted competition. This evaluation is often required by orthopedic surgeons to determine if their patient/athlete can be cleared for safe return to practice or competition. The Sport Functional Testing includes:
- Full body evaluation of strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance and muscle recruitment
- Evidence-based 14-step evaluation to determine safe return sports following lower extremity injury or surgery
- Athlete must pass all tests by 90% or better to be “cleared” for unrestricted return to sports
- Conditions appropriate for this evaluation
- Post-operative hip, knee or ankle surgery
- Post-fracture in the lower extremity
- Ligament instability (acute or chronic)
- Repetitive over-use injuries in the lower extremity
- Cost: $100 (Evaluation with formal report for physician or athletic training staff)
Who Would Benefit from the Program?
The S2 PEAK Training is a sport specific program that is developed to address the goals for an individual or entire team that require power and agility. This program has been shown through several research studies to improve performance within the first eight weeks while reducing the risk for lower extremity injuries, specifically ligament injuries of the knee. The need for the program came out of necessity with the high prevalence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures in female athletes.
Sports that need S2 PEAK Training?
The following sports have demonstrated the need for S2 PEAK Training and have shown excellent results in the research published for achieving the goals of performance enhancement and injury prevention:
- Basketball
- Volleyball
- Football
- Baseball
- Softball
- Soccer
- Hockey
- Lacrosse
- Figure Skating
- Gymnastics
- Competitive Cheerleading
