Our services

At Armor PT in Portage, we employ a combination of conventional tools and advanced technology to diagnose an issue and determine the best course of treatment for our patients. Hands-on therapy

At Armor PT in Portage, we provide some of the best services in the Portage area. Our specialties include orthopedic and sports PT, manual therapy, post-operative rehab, overuse injury treatment, neuromuscular re-training, TRX assisted rehab, McKenzie treatment, and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM).

We also provide specific services for sports performance, such as gait evaluation, lactate threshold testing, sports performance training, biomechanical evaluations, triathlon training, shoe and orthotic recommendations, and healthy spine treatments. Our team also offers specific programs for athletic achievement, such as our Golf Performance Academy, Just for Kids!, S2 P.E.A.K Training, and Performing Arts & Dance.

What we treat

We provide treatment for several parts of the body, including back pain, sciatica, shoulder pain, elbow/wrist/hand pain, pelvic pain, neck pain, headaches, hip and knee pain, foot and ankle pain, and neurological conditions. We also provide treatment for certain injuries, ailments, and conditions, such as sports injuries, work injuries, motor vehicle injuries, balance and gait dysfunction, arthritis, TMJ, fibromyalgia, torticollis, and women’s health conditions. Additionally, we offer specific rehabilitation and recovery programs, such as pre-surgical rehab, post-surgical rehab, vestibular rehab, and work hardening.

Christina Woytal is a physical therapist and a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy who joined Armor Physical Therapy in 2010. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Professional Biology from Central Michigan University in 1996. Christina completed her Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy at Central Michigan University in 1999. She went on with her studies graduating from the University of Kansas in April 2011 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Christina is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA. Christina has been Clinic Director at the Portage location since 2015 and group director for Battle Creek, East Kalamazoo, and Plainwell.

Christina has spent her entire career specializing in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine. She has advanced training in ankle and foot biomechanics and utilizes video tape gait analysis and orthotic management for various lower extremity overuse injuries. Christina also has advanced training in treating the performing artist such as dancers, figure skaters, and musicians.

Christina is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Michigan Physical Therapy Association. Christina has lectured on various topics for various professional groups and designed strength and conditioning programs for various dance studios in the area.  Christina is dedicated to passing on her knowledge and mentoring the future physical therapist as a Clinical Instructor for the last 20 years.

Rachel is a physical therapist and joined the staff at Armor Physical Therapy in April 2015. She graduated in 2012 from the Central Michigan University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Rachel is also certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (McKenzie Technique).

Rachel decided to pursue a career in physical therapy while rehabbing from an ACL reconstruction following a soccer injury as a senior in high school. She went on to play collegiate soccer at Alma College. Throughout her career, Rachel has had the opportunity to work with the lifespan of patients, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Her passion is sports medicine and working with athletes of all levels from weekend warriors to collegiate athletes.

Rachel is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Michigan Physical Therapy Association, Orthopedic Physical Therapy Section, and Sports Physical Therapy Section. Rachel has been a clinical instructor for a number of physical therapy, physical therapy assistant, athletic training, and exercise science students. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and dogs as well as hiking, paddle boarding, and traveling.

Chris is a Physical Therapist and the newest member of our Battle Creek team. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from North Park University in 2017 and graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University in 2020. Chris enjoys treating orthopedic injuries but is also experienced with treatment of neurological conditions including stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson's Disease management, and vestibular therapy. Chris has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2019 and enjoys researching new treatment options to provide the most up-to-date care. His favorite part of being a physical therapist is educating others about the body and helping them achieve their personal goals through activity and lifestyle changes. Interesting fact: In 2020, Chris hiked the entire Appalachian Trail, a 2200 mile footpath ranging from Georgia to Maine.

Kelsey is a Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer who joined the Armor Physical Therapy team in July of 2020.  She completed her undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University in 2016 with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.  During her time at WMU, she worked with D1 varsity athletics, area high school athletes, and patients at a physical therapy clinic. She then went on to graduate from Grand Valley State University with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2020.

Kelsey grew up in Mattawan, Michigan where she participated in a variety of sports such as soccer, track and field, and downhill ski racing. Kelsey has a passion for working with people to achieve their goals and help people get back to doing the things they love and improve their quality of life. She loves working with athletes and currently also works as an Athletic Trainer for the Grand Rapids Ballet Company and has completed further training in Performing Arts Medicine from the Performing Arts Medical Association. She enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, being on the water, and doing anything outside to stay active.

Sam Freestone joined the Armor Physical Therapy in August 2020 as a physical therapist. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in May of 2020. He also completed his undergraduate education at CMU, earning a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science: Kinesiology in 2017. Sam was raised in Saugatuck, MI and graduated from Saugatuck High School in 2013 where he ran cross country and track. He still runs, has completed several half-marathons and hopes to run a full marathon in the future. Sam has had in interest in health professions since high school and pursued a career in physical therapy after one of his high school cross country teammates was able to forego surgery with physical therapy. He enjoys working with athletes and helping rehab people so that they can return to the sports, recreation, and hobbies that they enjoy.
